New wildfire recovery laws address smoke damage and mortgages

Four bills signed in Altadena strengthen protections for disaster survivors.

The state says the package covers insurance, smoke-contamination testing and remediation, mortgage forbearance and recovery procedures. Survivors of the Eaton and Palisades fires helped shape the legislation.
