Animated projects join California film tax credit awards

The 2026 round included animated features for the first time.

The California Film Commission announced 38 projects in an April round, including The Simpsons Movie 2 and Phineas and Ferb. Its release says three animated projects were selected under newly expanded eligibility.

Tax credit awards are production incentives, not release announcements. Individual projects set their own schedules.
