The Chargers trailed 27–6 early in the third quarter before scoring 17 second-half points. A Cameron Dicker field goal cut Seattle's lead to seven with just over two minutes remaining, but the comeback ended when Justin Herbert was strip-sacked on Los Angeles' final possession.

Herbert finished with 189 passing yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. The Chargers committed four turnovers, while both teams combined for 30 accepted penalties, the most in an NFL game this season, Reuters reported.

Early mistakes prove costly

The Chargers' official recap said short Seattle scoring drives followed a muffed punt and one of Herbert's interceptions. Los Angeles went into halftime down 20–6, then found the end zone on a Herbert pass to Kimani Vidal and a two-yard run by Omarion Hampton.

The Chargers return to SoFi Stadium for a Week 5 game against Denver.
