LAUSD schedules November sessions on potential school closures and mergers
Los Angeles Unified has scheduled regional information sessions from November 4 through November 9 as it begins community outreach on potential school closures and mergers.
The district’s Stronger Schools Together process is designed to gather questions and feedback from families, students, employees and community members before any decisions are made. LAUSD says the sessions will focus on the challenges and opportunities it sees for strengthening schools and educational programs.
When: November 4–9, 2026
Where: Sessions cover LAUSD’s East, West, South and North regions
Format: Virtual, hybrid and in-person options; the district has posted location and Zoom details
What families can expect
LAUSD has said it is considering closures and mergers amid long-running enrollment declines and financial pressures. The upcoming regional sessions are an early outreach step, not a list of schools proposed for closure. The district’s schedule includes a hybrid East-region session in Maywood on November 4 and an in-person South-region session at Fremont High School on November 6, along with virtual meetings across the four regions.
