The infected bat was found Sunday, October 11, on East Green Street between South Marengo and South Euclid avenues. Health officials said people who attended events or were otherwise in the Civic Center District from October 9 through 11 should consider whether they had direct contact with a bat. Simply being in the area does not constitute exposure.
No human rabies cases have been reported, and Pasadena Public Health said the overall risk to the public remains low. Anyone who touched a bat should contact a medical provider as soon as possible. Pet owners who believe an animal may have had contact should call an emergency veterinarian.
