Los Angelistas plans Angelino Heights Halloween walk
Los Angelistas, a women’s walking group that has grown to more than 7,000 members, is organizing a free November 1 walk through Angelino Heights, including the neighborhood’s Victorian landmarks and a location associated with Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”
The group began in April 2023 when a small group of women decided to keep meeting for walks after connecting through another social club, LAist reported. It now holds weekly outings in neighborhoods across Los Angeles, including Brentwood, Mid-City and Glendale.
When: Sunday, November 1; meet at 9:30 a.m., walk starts at 9:45 a.m.
Where: 631 Belmont Ave., Los Angeles
Cost: Free
Who: Women; children and pets are welcome
Walking, local history and new connections
Organizers say the walks are intended to help participants get exercise, discover neighborhoods and meet people beyond the group’s events. October routes have used Halloween themes, including earlier visits to the Spadena House in Beverly Hills and Los Feliz.
Angelino Heights, next to Echo Park, is known for its late-19th-century homes and has served as a backdrop for film and television. LAist reported that the November route will include a stop tied to the 1983 “Thriller” video.
