Crews respond during red-flag warning

Los Angeles County Fire Department aircraft and ground crews were working in steep canyon terrain. CAL FIRE listed 200 personnel, 10 engines, four crews and two helicopters assigned Sunday evening, with air tankers available as conditions allowed. The agency also reported one confirmed firefighter injury.

The fire broke out while a red-flag warning remained in effect across parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Conditions near the fire included low humidity and northeast winds that could accelerate fire spread.

Earlier shelter and road closures

During the evacuation, the American Red Cross opened a shelter at Agoura High School, while Agoura Animal Care Center accepted pets belonging to evacuees.

Officials previously announced closures at Decker Road and Encinal Canyon Road; Kanan Road and Mulholland Highway; and Mulholland Highway and Westlake Boulevard. Drivers should check current county alerts before traveling through the area.
