Metrolink pauses OC Line service south of Laguna Niguel for high tides
Orange County Line trains will not run between Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo and Oceanside from Monday, October 26, through Friday, October 30.
Metrolink will temporarily suspend Orange County Line service south of the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo station because forecast high tides could disrupt the coastal rail corridor. During the five-day adjustment, trains will operate between Los Angeles Union Station and Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo only.
Dates: October 26–30
Affected segment: Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo to Oceanside
Alternate transportation: None planned by Metrolink
What riders should expect
Riders traveling to or from San Juan Capistrano and Oceanside will need to make other arrangements during the suspension. Metrolink said it is making the change in advance to reduce the risk of wider delays and cancellations if water conditions affect rail operations.
The action applies to the Orange County Line, which will originate and terminate at Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo during the period. Metrolink said it will not provide replacement bus service for the affected segment.
Separate Surfliner advisory
Pacific Surfliner separately advises that trains between San Clemente Pier and Oceanside may see delays from signal issues and weather conditions. Metrolink riders should check their operator’s service notices before traveling, as the two services have different operating plans.
