Netflix to cut about 1,000 jobs in biggest layoff round since 2022
Netflix plans to eliminate roughly 1,000 positions—about 6% of its global workforce—as part of companywide organizational changes.
The reductions will fall primarily across product, technology, legal, and human-resources teams, according to an employee memo from co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters reviewed by Bloomberg and other news organizations.
The company had about 16,000 full-time employees at the end of 2025, according to its annual regulatory filing. Netflix confirmed the approximate scale of the cuts to TechCrunch.
Positions: Roughly 1,000
Share of workforce: About 6%
Teams most affected: Product, technology, legal, and human resources
Previous major cuts: About 450 positions in 2022
Company says business remains strong
In the internal memo, the co-CEOs said the job cuts were intended to change how the company is organized and should not be viewed as a judgment on individual employees’ work.
Associated Press reported that the latest reductions are Netflix’s largest round since 2022. The company’s Los Angeles operations are a major part of Southern California’s entertainment economy, though Netflix did not publicly specify how many local positions would be affected.
