Two killed and five injured in multi-vehicle Oxnard crash

Two drivers were killed and five other people were injured in an eight-vehicle crash in Oxnard on Friday afternoon, NBC Los Angeles reported September 25. The collision was reported at Victoria and Doris avenues shortly before 4 p.m., according to the Ventura County Fire Department.

What it means locally

Four adults were taken to hospitals—one with serious injuries, one with moderate injuries and two with minor injuries—and another person declined transport, officials said. Oxnard police said the hospitalized driver of a pickup truck was suspected of alcohol or drug impairment, while preliminary witness accounts also suggested possible speeding. The cause remained under investigation, and the report did not announce an arrest.
