Padres fall 3–2 to Brewers in NLDS opener
San Diego took an early two-run lead, but Milwaukee rallied on home runs by Jackson Chourio and William Contreras.
The Padres lost 3–2 to the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night in Game 1 of their National League Division Series, according to Reuters. San Diego scored twice in the second inning before Chourio's two-run homer tied the game in the third.
Contreras supplies the deciding run
Contreras broke the tie with a two-out solo homer against reliever Adrian Morejon in the seventh. The Padres left the bases loaded in the top half of that inning, then stranded runners at the corners in the eighth when Trevor Megill struck out Fernando Tatis Jr.
Late drive stays in the park
San Diego threatened again in the ninth when Ty France drove a ball to left field with a runner aboard. The ball hit part of the closed roof at American Family Field and was caught on the warning track; the out call stood after review. Game 2 of the best-of-five series is scheduled for Sunday afternoon in Milwaukee.
