The defensive tackle played 33 snaps in his return from retirement, and coaches may expand his workload Sunday night.

Aaron Donald is preparing for the Rams’ Sunday night game at Denver after playing 33 snaps in his first game back from a two-year retirement, the Los Angeles Times reported September 24. Donald made three tackles, including one for a loss, in Monday’s 28–6 victory over the New York Giants.

What it means locally

Donald said he reviewed video of his return game six times and saw areas to improve. Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula praised his performance and said Donald’s snap count against the Broncos will depend on how the game develops rather than a fixed limit.

Donald, 35, is a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year who returned to the franchise that drafted him in 2014. The accompanying photograph shows Donald during a Rams game in Maryland in 2020 and is archival; it is not from this week’s practice or his return game.
