NFL suspends Rams tackle Alaric Jackson for two games
Los Angeles will be without its starting left tackle for two games after the NFL disciplined Jackson for striking Buffalo linebacker Bradley Chubb during a postgame confrontation.
The NFL suspended Alaric Jackson for two games without pay for unsportsmanlike conduct following the Rams’ 37–34 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills at SoFi Stadium on Monday night.
According to the league, Jackson struck Chubb in the face while players were greeting each other and exchanging jerseys after the game. Television cameras recorded the confrontation before teammates separated the players.
Discipline: Two-game suspension without pay
Status: Jackson plans to appeal
Games affected if upheld: Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders
Expected replacement: David Quessenberry
Rams prepare a change at left tackle
Coach Sean McVay said Jackson plans to appeal. If the suspension stands, ninth-year veteran David Quessenberry is expected to protect quarterback Matthew Stafford’s blind side against Arizona and Las Vegas.
Jackson has started all five games for the 2–3 Rams this season. The Los Angeles Times reported that the offensive line had allowed seven sacks, the fifth-fewest in the league, before the suspension forced the change.
