Rams add safety Maximus Pulley, place Ronnie Rivers on injured reserve

Los Angeles signed safety Maximus Pulley from Philadelphia’s practice squad and moved running back Ronnie Rivers to injured reserve.

The Los Angeles Rams announced the roster moves Wednesday afternoon. Pulley, a 24-year-old safety from Wofford, joined the active roster after spending the start of the season on Philadelphia’s practice squad and playing six special-teams snaps in Week 2. Rivers went on injured reserve after suffering a calf injury during Monday night’s game against the New York Giants.

What it means locally

Pulley led the Southern Conference with five interceptions in his final college season, returning two for touchdowns. The Rams said they had liked his college tape and needed more depth in the secondary.

Rivers left the Giants game with a calf injury. Head coach Sean McVay described the expected recovery window as four to six weeks, and the injured-reserve move will keep Rivers off the active roster while he recovers.
