Rancho Cucamonga approves $7.8 million brewery purchase for fire station
The Rancho Cucamonga City Council approved a $7.8 million agreement to buy Hamilton Family Brewery’s property and convert it into a fire station.
CBS Los Angeles reported that the agreement is between the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District and the brewery’s owners. The sale still must close through escrow.
The brewery opened last year near Eighth Street and Archibald Avenue. CBS reported that the city began reviewing neighborhood complaints in March, followed by protests over parking and other activity around the business.
Location: Eighth Street and Archibald Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga
Purchase price: $7.8 million
Planned use: Fire station
Status: Council-approved; escrow remains pending
Fire officials cite response-time benefits
Fire officials told CBS that a station at the brewery property would improve emergency response times. The Fire District is expected to provide most of the purchase money, with part of the cost coming from the city.
The district previously bought another site for a planned station and now expects to sell that parcel. The city’s official meetings page confirms that the City Council and Fire Protection District meet together and publish agenda packets and supporting records.
Brewery plans a return to its former site
Owner Josh Hamilton told CBS that the brewery expects to return to its former Seventh Street location and build a tasting room there. He said the current property cost $2.5 million before the owners invested millions more to convert it into a working brewery.
