The City of San Diego said September 24 that it provided corrected Solid Waste Management Fee data to San Diego County after an error affected billing information for approximately 87,000 customers. The city and the county Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office are working to update the affected property-tax statements.
What it means locally
The incorrect fee was higher than the proper amount for some customers and lower for others. City officials said residents will not be required to pay more than the correct charge for their selected service level. Affected customers do not need to contact the city or take action now; the city plans to notify them directly with next steps. No payment is currently due, and property-tax bills are due November 1. Residents can view their service level and correct amount in the city’s Residential Waste Collection Services Portal.
