Materials found: 12 unvoted ballot packets and 14 voter guides
County response: The materials were brought to a nearby post office and redelivered
Investigation: The Registrar said it works with the U.S. Postal Service on potential mail-ballot tampering reports
County says packets reached voters
ABC 10News reported that a resident photographed election mail scattered along Lake Wohlford Road on Thursday and notified the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies later learned that another driver had collected the materials and delivered them to the Valley Center Post Office.
The Registrar said the U.S. Postal Service confirmed the packets and guides were redelivered to addresses in Pauma Valley and Valley Center. The county said there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud in California or San Diego County and described reports of tampering as rare but serious.
