San Diego is correcting errors in its new trash-fee bills after residents and City Council members raised concerns, Mayor Todd Gloria told ABC 10News. Gloria called the problem unacceptable and apologized for the mistake.

Paper bills: The error was identified before they were mailed

Early payments: The city says those payments were refunded

Budget outlook: The projected gap is about $120 million, down from roughly $300 million last year

Financial outlook due in November

Gloria said bills are not due for several more weeks while the city and county prepare corrected statements. He also said the city reduced its budget deficit to about $120 million this year and expects to release a five-year financial outlook in November.

The mayor separately said San Diego has continued clearing flood channels since the damaging 2024 floods and is focusing on communication and advance coordination as the region prepares for wet weather.
